COSAFA Partners With United Against Malaria At Cosafa Cup Zambia 2013

Malaria kills an estimated 1.2-million people every year, the large majority the poor and vulnerable, primarily young children and pregnant women in Africa who are more likely to be exposed to infection due to lower immunity levels and have the most limited access to malaria prevention, treatment, and control measures.

United Against Malaria (UAM) hopes to end deaths from the disease altogether by helping put in place preventative measures to stop infection. UAM, together with Stanbic, will partner with the COSAFA Cup Zambia 2013 by providing workshops that will help educate on ways to half the spread of the disease and ultimately save lives.

Anna McCartney-Melstad, Country Manager of UAM in South Africa, explains more about the organisation and the partnership with COSAFA in an interview with allAfrica.
